Cyclospora Lettuce Outbreak Lawsuit

If you ate contaminated lettuce and were later diagnosed with cyclosporiasis, you may qualify for compensation.

What's behind the cyclospora claims?

Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that causes a prolonged, often severe intestinal illness called cyclosporiasis, marked by watery diarrhea, cramping, nausea, and fatigue that can last for weeks without treatment. Federal investigators have traced a large multistate outbreak to iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico, which was used in products sold at grocery stores and served at restaurant chains across the country before a recall in July 2026.

Foodborne illness claims like these hold growers, processors, and the restaurants and retailers that served contaminated products accountable for failing to keep the food supply safe. Cases are now moving forward in federal court, with the first lawsuits already naming both the supplier and restaurant chains that served the recalled lettuce.

Who this may affect

  • Ate iceberg lettuce or a product containing it — at a restaurant, grocery store, or otherwise — during the outbreak period
  • Later diagnosed with cyclosporiasis or experienced prolonged gastrointestinal illness consistent with the outbreak
  • Required medical treatment, missed work, or had a family member hospitalized because of the illness

Where things stand

The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation created a consolidated federal proceeding for cyclospora outbreak claims on August 1, 2026, and lawsuits against Taylor Farms and restaurant chains that served the recalled lettuce are already underway. Because the outbreak is still under active investigation and additional cases continue to be filed, a free eligibility review is the fastest way to find out what may apply to your situation.
