As of mid-2026, nearly 14,000 people are pursuing compensation through the federal PFAS MDL, and the presiding judge has urged major manufacturers including 3M, DuPont, BASF, and Johnson Controls to move toward a broader settlement process. On July 9, 2026, New York's Attorney General filed a new lawsuit against 3M, DuPont, Chemours, and Corteva seeking statewide cleanup funding and damages. Separately, Chemours, DuPont, and Corteva agreed to pay $2 billion — including $875 million over 25 years — to resolve New Jersey contamination claims.

Chief Judge Renée Marie Bumb gave final approval on August 7, 2026 to more than $2.5 billion in New Jersey PFAS settlements with DuPont, Chemours, Corteva, and 3M, including a $1.2 billion restoration fund.
