What's behind the Ozempic/GLP-1 claims?

Lawsuits allege that GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and similar drugs (semaglutide-based, used for diabetes and weight loss) caused severe gastrointestinal injuries — including gastroparesis (stomach paralysis), intestinal obstruction, and related complications — without adequate warning to patients and doctors.

The FDA added an ileus (intestinal obstruction) warning to Ozempic's label in January 2025, after the litigation was already underway.

Where things stand

Nearly 3,850 lawsuits are consolidated in MDL 3094 before Judge Karen Marston in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The litigation remains in its early stages — no trials or settlements have occurred as of July 2026. A status conference held June 23, 2026 moved the case toward expert-witness and summary-judgment phases, with bellwether trial selection expected in late 2026.
